El Ayuntamiento de Xeraco está llevando a cabo la tarea de eliminar y controlar los desfiles de plagas en lugares públicos, parques y jardines, este movimiento municipal contra la procesionaria del pino se ha puesto en marcha un año más para eliminar plagas de las coníferas y pinos que se encuentran en las zonas verdes y parques infantiles de los municipios.
El propósito es evitar que las orugas caigan al suelo desde sus nidos. El ayuntamiento solo puede actuar en lugares públicos. Los pinos con procesionaria en parcelas privadas deben ser eliminados por sus propietarios.
